Havering Cyclists Sunday Club

Starts Sunday 6 November at 11:00 for 4 weeks

Ingrebourne Valley Visitor Centre, Hornchurch Country Park

Calling all cyclists, all ages and all abilities!

Do you fancy joining a regular group ride which is only off-road or along cycle paths?

The rides are aimed at those of us who want to practice our cycling, so the rides are lot too long (6-10 miles), are in a safe and traffic free environment, led by trained ride leaders, and are for all ages and for families.

Why not come and join us on Sunday 6 November at 11:00? We will be meeting at the Ingrebourne Valley Visitor centre in Hornchurch Country Park and the rides will take place around the park, and possibly to Upminster, Rainham Hall, RSPB Rainham and return.

Bikes will be checked prior to each ride if needed, and we have a lot of free SkyRide Hi-Viz tops to give out to riders.

We are running these for the 4 weekends in November and if there is support we will continue them indefinitely. If you’d like to help lead the rides let us know.

Children under 16 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Cycle helmets, although not mandatory are advised to be worn.

The routes are suitable for most types of bikes, although if a special needs bike, tandem or tricycle is to be used, be aware that parts of the routes will not be suitable for them. All we ask is that bikes are:

  • in good working order
  • have fully inflated tyres
  • have 2 brakes that work or be fitted with a front brake if a fixed wheel bike
  • be an appropriate size for the rider to participate safely

The Murder Room – a mystery farce!

by Jack Sharkey

Set in an English country house with a gold-digging bride and a delightfully dozy daughter – not a lot gets past the faithful housekeeper. Chuck in a couple of policemen and an American Millionaire and you have a recipe for an evening of sheer fun and entertainment. This mystery farce, in three acts, has a clever and complicated plot which rattles along at a pace, with laughs galore – not to mention contraptions …! A great way to spend an autumn evening.

Runs 9-12 November, 2016 at 8pm nightly, plus Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

Conveniently at The Little Theatre, Methodist Church, The Drive, Harold Wood, RM3 0DU, tickets are just £7.

There is parking, and buses and Harold Wood mainline station is just a few minutes walk.

Tickets available on door or reserve on 01708 782118 (or email susiedrama@gmail.com)

Beware Rogue Traders

“Following a recent report of fraud in Upminster we urge elderly and vulnerable people in particular to seek advice from a trusted friend or family before employing a trader. People should be wary of cold callers but also when responding to leaflets put through the door. This applies to all types of tradespeople, including gardening services. Ask the trader to leave a written quote and discuss it with someone you trust. If a trader is legitimate, they will not pressure you and will be happy to give you some thinking time. Never go to a bank with anyone you do not know or hand over your bank card. If you have any doubts, contact the police on 101.”

Kind regards
