Anyone interested in a Havering Over 50s Forum Cycling Club

Dear all, since bringing cycling as an activity to the forum at least 10 have received personal bike training to a level where off-road cycling is now possible.

I am willing to set up a series of club rides aimed at getting people more experienced on their bikes. I can do this by arranging rides for people during the week or at weekends.I have a number of off-road, on-road and combination routes of various distances we can use, and we can slowly work up to longer rides over time.

Alternatively we can make block bookings for Skyrides. A suitable one is a ride from Upminster to Rainham along the Ingrebourne Valley due to take place on Sunday 18th August at 14:00.

Let me know if you are interested and I’ll start setting it up.

Harold Wood Running and Walking Club

New Running Club in Harold Wood.

Every day we pass numerous joggers and runners in the Harold Wood and Harold Hill area, sometimes alone and sometimes in small groups.

Good news! A new club has been formed, based at the Harold Wood Sports Club in the Harold Wood Park. Not only do we have access to the beautiful park and the surrounding areas, we also have access to the excellent facilities at the Harold Wood Sports Club which are surely the best in the region including change rooms, showers and a very social bar. The club is easily accessible through public transport, a ten minute walk from the Harold Wood Station and on bus routes.

The club caters for everyone from the beginner taking his or her first run, to experienced runners who want to share their enjoyment of the sport with fellow runners. Advice is available for training methods and programs, shoe selection, diet, health and injuries.

We also recognise that not everyone can run so we hope to extend the club to include walkers as well as runners.

The social aspect of sport is well catered for and runners and walkers will be welcome to stay at the club for something cool to quench their thirst after a good run!

The costs will be normal annual running club membership fees.

Meet every evening, Monday to Thursday at the Harold Wood Sports Club, 6.30 pm : Harold Wood Park, Harold View, Harold Wood, Essex RM3 0LX.
