This Easter wouldn’t it be nice to do something amazing? Could you Be a Good Egg?

With your help, we can give underprivileged children the gift of a Chocolate Egg this Easter. Just buy an extra egg & then bring it to our studios in the Liberty Shopping Centre, Romford or you can take them to Clarkes Carpets & Flooring store in Roneo Corner.

However, if easier for you. donations can be made HERE and we will purchase the eggs on your behalf – it couldn’t be simpler!

Havering over 50s Forum have donated 8 easter eggs towards their total and wish them all success with their venture.

Havering Residents to have say on borough’s character

Havering Council is encouraging residents to share their thoughts on the borough in a characterisation study starting this month.

The information residents provide will help us to understand what contributes to the local character of our borough and how we can shape future development to make sure we continue to protect and strengthen our local communities.

The results will contribute to Havering’s Local Plan update, which was adopted in 2021 and  needs updating, as required by the Planning Inspectorate.

The findings will be used to help to identify areas within the borough that require greater protection, in addition to those that may have room for growth.

It will set out the description of the physical form of the borough, our history, places, streets and buildings as well as provide an update to our understanding of what makes the borough what it is today.

We are keen to hear what characteristics residents wish to preserve or create in their area.

Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council, said:

“This study will deepen our understanding about the local urban environment and help us to maintain the highest of standards of building design and layout, to achieve sustainable development that is right for Havering and our residents.

“I look forward to seeing the results from this study and encourage as many people to contribute to it as possible.”

Allies and Morrison Urban Practitioners have been commissioned to undertake the survey on behalf of the Planning Authority to help to understand the local character and distinctiveness of the neighbourhoods and communities in Havering.

King’s College London – study on the experience of ageing

Opportunity to work with King’s College London

https://www.kcl.ac.uk/research/saacy

The science of ageing and the culture of youth

A study of the experiencing of Ageing

What the study is about

Ageing is often seen as negative, with descriptions of decline, loss, and illness. We are looking at the views, experiences, and expectations of ageing. We want to understand these views so that we can gain more understanding of where negative conceptions of ageing come from, and what people need as they age so they can age as they want to

What you will have to do

If you are an adult aged 50-80 years old we want to invite you to take part in an interview about ageing. In the interview, we will discuss your experiences and thoughts about ageing and ask questions about your views on what ageing means to you. The interview can be completed face-to-face, by telephone, or on an online video platform.

How you can get involved

If you would like more information about the SAACY study or you would like to take part, please contact Dr Laura Hughes on the details below, or scan the QR code to fill in a contact form, or visit our website.
