We are opening our doors once again this month for our ever popular FREE Wills and LPA advice seminars.

Over half the population in the UK do not have a Will and this, unfortunately, can lead to difficulties for families and loved ones upon death.

In addition to this, Dementia can lead to you being unable to make your own decisions. A Lasting Power of Attorney allows you to nominate a person to make decisions on your behalf in the future if you become unable to.

 It’s that time of the year again when Age UK London sends out our annual ‘Your Priorities’ questionnaire to get feedback from older Londoners on their campaigning priorities. We would be very grateful for your help in distributing it to older people you are in contact with.

 This brief questionnaire has been constructed in order that we, at Age UK London, may get a better idea of the issues that affect older Londoners. We want to make sure that our campaign priorities are really based on older people’s views.

Do you know someone who would benefit from a Relaxed or Dementia Friendly performance?

Our Relaxed and Dementia Friendly performances welcome people who will benefit from a relaxed, quieter and supportive environment including people with an Autism Spectrum Condition, Dementia, sensory and communication disorders or a learning disability.

These specially adapted performances of Beauty and the Beast will provide a comfortable and informal environment to enable everyone to just be themselves. You can feel assured that audience noise is permitted throughout the performance and individuals who may feel overwhelmed by the experience are free to leave to a ‘chill out’ area in the foyer and return when they feel ready at any point during the show.

A Visual Story will sent out before the shows which contains information and pictures about the performance, storyline, characters and the venue so you can prepare for your theatre experience in advance. To receive a copy of the Visual Story in the post, bookings must be made before Sunday 17 December.

The Mayor of London and Transport for London (TfL) have today announced the first round of winners of a new multi-million pound funding programme, which will transform neighbourhoods across the capital into greener, healthier, more attractive public spaces.

Ealing, Greenwich, Hackney, Haringey, Havering, Lewisham and Waltham Forest boroughs were all successful in their initial bids for funding from the new ‘Liveable Neighbourhoods’ programme, which is the first scheme set up to directly deliver the Mayor’s new Health Streets Approach across London. The seven boroughs will now develop their proposals further to secure a share of the £114 million in funding for their schemes. They will involve changes to town centres and their surrounding residential areas to directly improve conditions for walking and cycling, while reducing traffic dominance and supporting businesses by making local town centres more attractive.

Romford Town Centre, Havering

• The project will enable more walking and cycling in Romford town centre by making the busy Ring Road easier to cross on foot and by bike. Existing subways will be replaced by pedestrian and cycle crossings at street level along with new bus lanes and public spaces

At this stage £1.25m is being given to the boroughs to help develop their proposals further.
