Brookside Theatre presents “RED – THE RED RIDING HOOD MUSICAL” runs from the 26th – 29th February 2020
A HOWLIN’ NEW MUSICAL BASED ON THE OLDEST STORY OF ALL TIME, RED RIDING HOOD, COMES TO THE BROOKSIDE THEATRE
“Sit by the fire and we’ll tell you a tale…” The Brookside Theatre, are proud to present an exciting musical, based on the tale of Little Red Riding Hood.
Join a troupe of travelling gypsies as they gather round the camp fire by the edge of a dark wood to tell stories. The sound of wolves howling from deep within the forest leads the characters to tell the story of one of their ancestors – a mysterious girl who wore a red hood.
Written by multi award-nominated writer and composer, Paul Boyd and produced by the team that brought you Peter Pan The Musical, Oliver! and The Canterville Ghost, this beautiful musical cleverly retells the many different versions of the timeless fairytale of Little Red Riding Hood from the lighter children’s versions to the darker variants told over the centuries.
The theatre’s Artistic Director, Jai Sepple explains, “We are truly honoured to be working on Paul Boyd’s imaginary musical and bringing this future classic to the London stage. We have had as much fun working on the show – even building a full size gypsy caravan – and I know, the audience will get just as much enjoyment out of the show when they join us. Young or old, who doesn’t love a good fairy tale?”
Packed full of energy and fun, the talented cast of five perform a cavalcade of songs in different styles including country, blues and rock ‘n’ roll.
A theatrical treat for audiences of all ages – an unforgettable musical experience of the one of the oldest tales ever told.
RED – THE RED RIDING HOOD MUSICAL runs from the 26th – 29th February 2020 at the Brookside Theatre, Eastern Road, Romford. Ticket are on sale now and available online from www.brooksidetheatre.com or through the theatre box office on 01708 755775.

Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch wins London Theatre of the Year at The Stage Awards 2020
The Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch has been named the London Theatre of the Year 2020 by The Stage Awards.
We were nominated alongside two incredible venues, London Palladium and Theatre Royal Stratford East.
It has been a transformational year for us. Our continuing QNew Transformation is a £1 million facelift to the front and back-of-house spaces, as well as the creation of new accessible rehearsal and development facilities. This process has been taking place without any building closure.
Havering is the borough that has the fourth-lowest arts engagement in London. In 2019, we produced 14 shows, with an estimated 45% of audience members attending for the first time.
The ongoing project, Essex on Stage, champions positive opinions of Essex. Beginning with David Eldridge’s In Basildon, it includes talent development and new artistic work.
We have also partnered with the National Theatre for a second time on the NT’s large-scale Public Acts programme – with a production of As You Like It. Our growing list of co-producing partners also includes the New Wolsey in Ipswich, Theatr Clwyd, Hull Truck, Oldham Coliseum, Derby Theatre, Leeds Playhouse and Curve.
