HAVERING OVER 50s FORUM 11th JUNE 2024 AT HAVERING TOWN HALL
Our monthly meeting was held this morning to a good attendance. As some of you will know, our Chair Cliff Reynolds has health issues at present and has decided to take a break from his duties for a while. The decision was taken at an Executive meeting recently that Wendy Brice-Thompson, former Mayor and councillor would take on the role of Acting Chair until Cliff’s return. We all wish Cliff the best for his health and look forward to seeing him in the not too distant future.
Our speaker this month was unable to attend and so the Acting Chair invited various guests present to give an update on their duties around the Borough and to take questions.
Firstly Met. Police Officers Chris Hackin and Sue Sullivan told us about crime levels locally, enforcement of rules for e.scooters, beggers on trains and the homeless problems. PCSO Sullivan spoke about the emergency telephone number of 159 for any bank emergencies i.e. loss of bank cards.
Two representatives from Healthwatch gave a brief update and our Champion, Cllr. Mandy Anderson told us about the PANTs campaign and the library consultation. Cabinet Member Cllr. Barry Mugglestone took questions on deer culling and the management of our neighbourhood trees.
Our President, Pam Light took a straw poll as to whom would be interested in a Garden Party on 28th August. After a positive show of hands, it was agreed that we go ahead with this event, at the HAD garden in Wingletye Lane, Hornchurch.
The Acting Chair reminded everyone that an Executive meeting would be held this Thursday at The Railway Tavern and that our next full meeting would be on the 13th August.
