My Husband had an emergency operation for a perforated bowel in King Georges – Redbridge
    on 20th May 2013.
The Consultant sent letter to GP saying he would try to do second operation in December 2013.
This was moved back to January but again it did not happen. Consultant was on annual
leave in February, so at the end of January we were given a date for this operation to take place on
    Friday 14th March.
My husband has had all his pre – med stuff done on 7th February. On Friday 7th March we received a letter stating the operation had been cancelled, there is no explanation and no signature.

This is totally unacceptable as you cannot not get on with your life, you cannot make any plans, in fact we cancelled a holiday to Mexico (and lost money) in January because we were told that was when he would have his operation and that was far more important than a holiday. They keep moving the goal posts which is very stressful and my Husband is now on ante depressants and has a stress related rash. The fact he is self employed and has done hardly any work since last May and the fact I am retired on a pension is really not helping.
I accept this operation is not an emergency, but is totally immoral to just leave patients hanging like this. I am totally disgusted and I have always defended our NHS service. f
